Macheke-based Jonas, a controversial playwright/artist and musician in his own right, made headlines in Zimbabwe after he wrote a controversial political satire called Bob.
He had to flee to South Africa following several brushes with state security officers who were not happy with the content of his play.
The song ‘Zimbabwe Yaora’ covers the theme of a Zimbabwe under repressive dictatorship and the singer laments on those who are arrested and killed daily in the country for voicing a dissenting voice.
In the song Jonas says that elections in Zimbabwe are now a mere formality as it is a foregone conclusion that the ruling party of Zanu (PF) always wins.
The other issue that is addressed is that of the shortage of medicines in hospitals and the escalating number of Zimbabwean refugees in neighbouring countries.
“I also encourage all to buy this album and play it without fear,” said Jonas. – CAJ News
