For the Record re: “Sugar Shortage Looms”

An article by the wire service ZimOnline headlined "Sugar shortage looms" published in The Zimbabwean on 5 October erroneously quotes Muchadeyi Masunda. The quotation from the Hippo Valley Notice to Shareholders was, in fact, signed by Austin Masunda, in his capacity as company secretary. H

e has further advised us that Hippo Valley is not the biggest sugar producer in Zimbabwe, and neither have Hippo Valley and Triangle Sugar Estates ever jointly produced 850,000 tonnes a year. Furthermore, no section of the Hippo Valley Estates Limited land has been allocated to A2 farmers.
The page 2 headline”Woza demands Mubhawu” apology in last week’s issue of The Zimbabwean is misleading. The story refers to a demonstration organised by the Women’s Coalition, a coalition of NGOs representing women’s interests including organisations such as Padare Men’s Forum on gender.
Our lead story last week,”Gono flies high”, quotes air force spokesman Flight Lieutenant Matimgwina. His name is correctly spelled Matingwina, and his first name is Samson.
We have been advised that the flight simulator is actually located at New Sarum, not KG VI, and that civilians can be given flying lessons by the air force if they are members of the air force reservists corps.
These errors are sincerely regretted. – Editor
