These were published in The Daily Mirror of February 16 and it is the duty of ZEC to make sure presiding officers at polling stations get the list,” said Ian Makoni, MDC director of elections.
“Erasable ink was used and as a result Zanu (PF) supporters voted more than once.
Yet again the ruling party had shown wanton disregard of the people’s wishes. There cannot be a free and fair electoral process when the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission is running the show oh behalf of Zanu (PF). There cannot be a free and fair election when a public broadcaster such as the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation is openly campaigning for Zanu (PF) and blacking out the opposition in wilful violation of the SADC guidelines,” said Makone.
The official results released were: Zanu (PF) 10,401; MDC (T) 3,300, MDC (M) 674, UPP 896, spoiled papers 332. The turnout was very low with only some 200 voters at each polling station. – Own correspondent
CHIREDZI - The main wing of the MDC, led by Morgan Tsvangirai, has dismissed the Chiredzi South election results as having been rigged by the ruling Zanu (PF). The party's agents were thrown out of about 70% of stations as ZEC officials claimed not to have seen a published list of their names.
