under the guiding hand of Zimbabwean playwright Sihlangu Tshuma.
Together with Claudette Mcdonald of Kajans Women’s Enterprise they are staging a production, entitled “I know” about a family going through difficult times – using a variety of effects including black lighting and puppetry.
Tshuma told The Zimbabwean he had been prompted to create the production after noticing the wealth of talent in the young people around him.
“I believe that through theatre I can offer them an opportunity for creative expression and a more productive way to fill their spare time,” he said.
The show was first staged at the Drum in Manchester in December, where it was rated one of the best features of that season. A follow-up performance is scheduled for the Drum on April 22, and more shows are in the pipeline. – Own correspondent
