Housing dispute – City suspends Matingo

MUTARE
The Zanu (PF) commission running the affairs of the eastern border city imposed on the residents of Mutare by Zimbabwe Local Government and Urban Development Minister Ignatius Chombo has suspended, pending dismissal, its legal officer, Isau Matingo.

fter coming into collision course with his employer following his challenging of an eviction order of about 30 families staying at a block of council flats, Marlborough Court.
Marlborough Court belongs to the council and council employees, including Matingo, stay there as well as other tenants. Investigations by CAJ News show the council intends to put in new tenants at the block of flats located in the city.
Fungai Chaeruka, a ruling Zanu (PF) member and chairperson of the commission confirmed the suspension to CAJ News this week. “Yes, that is true but may you speak to the Town Clerk, he is the one handling that issue,” he said.
The acting Town Clerk, Cardwell Munjoma, was uncooperative when contacted for comment insisting that we get all the details from Chaeruka. – CAJ News
