ZimArts is back to wow London

After a two-year absence, ZimArts is back with a sensational line-up of the best Zimbabwean Jazz, afro and rock artists currently residing in London.
The event is organised by WEZIMBABWE of Zimfest fame and it takes place on 23 June at University of London Union off Malet Street


in London. The event is intended to showcase the very best Zimbabwean musical and theatrical talent. Short musical sets will be interspersed with comedy, spoken word and theatrical performances.
Philip Chikiwiramakomo, WEZIMBABWE co-ordinator said that he is very excited to be showcasing such a wide range of Zimbabwean talent.
“The night in itself will not only be about a celebration of what is good about Zimbabwe, but we will raise funds for vital projects in Zimbabwe and hope that the evening will act as a catalyst for encouraging Zimbabweans to proactively get involved in developmental initiatives in Zimbabwe,” he said.
The internationally renowned jazz legend Paul Lunga headlines with his unique mix of American swing and Mariba sounds.
The fabulous Thabani with their wonderful mix of soul and groove will also perform followed by the more traditional Hohodza who will showcase time-honoured Zimbabwean music and dance. Harare’s fusion of jit jive and marimbas is sure to get the audience dancing along and the eclectic Tha Tha ensemble will also perform with their unique sound of south African jazz mixed with north African blues.
Henry Olonga will perform solo at the event as will Ryan Koriya (from Mann Friday). Top Zimbabwean DJ’s will then spin their tunes until 2 a.m.
Money raised from the evening will support worthwhile causes in Zimbabwe including paying for the education of children desperately in need as well as helping victims of abuse. – KJW
