Economy worries Pahad

THE South African government has again expressed concern over the current political and economic situation in Zimbabwe, saying it was now directly affecting its own economy.
Briefing the media in Pretoria last week, Foreign Affairs deputy minister, Aziz Pahad said economic matrix in Zimbabwe did

not create a conducive environment for any kind of investment which would also spill over to the South African economy.
“With an inflation rate of around 5,000%, our neighbour is in a very serious economic crisis. We are currently home to more than three million Zimbabweans who are running away from the crisis in their country,” he said.
