Mujuru castigates farmers

VICE President Joice Mujuru has castigated some farmers for letting the country down by underutilizing land allocated to them under the agrarian reform.
Mujuru was speaking at the construction site of the multi-million dollar Dotito irrigation scheme, during her tour of Mashonaland Central

province.
Analysts said most of the farmers who were not being productive on their farms were those who forcefully grab land from February 2000 after the rejection of the government sponsored draft constitution.
She assured the farmers that the irrigation scheme would be completed before the end of the year in a bid to improve agricultural production ahead of the presidential and parliamentary elections in March next year.
