Thugs harass villagers

In a bid to prevent people from voting, Zanu (PF) supporters and war veterans have launched a massive door-to-door campaign in Lower Gweru, Mwenezi and Buhera, in which they are confiscating prospective voters' identification documents.

rty cards and national identity cards confiscated. In Zimbabwe, voters are expected to produce an ID, passport of waiting pass to be able to cast their ballot. Villagers told The Zimbabwean police officers were staunchly refusing to arrest the marauding thugs who are harassing the hapless villagers.
Dr Daniel Shumba of the opposition United People’s Party said some politicians were bound to receive a rude awakening at the polls. He said it was risky for any politician to take solace from the huge turnouts at rallies as some people were attending rallies for their own security.
The police have been made ineffective by the executive, which has ordered them not to take action against war veterans.
