FREE AND FAIR ELECTION RALLY SPILLS INTO SA(15-08-07)

LIMPOPO: Thousands of Zimbabweans in South Africa are expected to grace a star rally scheduled for Limpopo province this coming Sunday afternoon.

This move has been welcomed by Zimbabweans in the province. Our reporter has been to t

he province to hear for himself.

“I can not wait to attend this rally as I know that it will ,for sure, bring positive developments for us in Limpopo and for all Zimbabweans in Diaspora who want to participate in the forthcoming elections, “said Tawanda Shumba from Musina area.

Movement for Democratic Change’s Vice Provincial secretary Emmanuel Ndunduma confirmed to the Zimbabwean that thousands of Zimbabweans in Limpopo were expected to attend the meeting.

“We are expecting Zimbabweans in their numbers to come for this rally as we will be setting up structures and pushing for massive action in the Diaspora, “confirmed Ndunduma.

Ndunduma also confirmed that the African National Congress (ANC) was also supporting the initiatives made by MDC in SA.

“We want to thank the ANC for offering the premises we will be using on Sunday and we expect some of their senior members to attend as they promised, “added Ndunduma.

The rally will be held at Phatudi College in Burgersfort Town just outside Petersburg .

Senior party leaders are expected to grace the occasion, among them National Treasurer, Roy Bennet and Grace Kwinjeh from the international affairs department.

MDC supporters have since year 2000 fled the country following political persecution on defenceless civilians by the Robert Mugabe regime.

Zimbabweans in the Diaspora are currently pushing to be part of voters in the forthcoming elections where the veteran leader whose legitimacy is still being contested is tipped to loose to the opposition MDC.

Meanwhile senior MDC cadre in SA, Toindepi Shone urged Zimbabweans in South Africa to attend such rallies as they were part of the democratisation process.

“We urge all Zimbabweans in South Africa to go and be part of the democratisation processes which will be taking place throughout the country in the coming months as we push for a free and fair elections, “said Shone.
