Lavish bash for Zvinavashe

While millions of Zimbabweans battle acute shortages of basic commodities, the ruling party hosted a lavish retirement party for Rtd Major General Vitalis Zvinavashe in Gutu last Saturday, where billions in taxpayers' money was splashed out in feeding party supporters.

Among the guests were Defense Minister Sydney Sekeramayi, Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Stan Mudenge, Indigenization Minister Paul Mangwana, President of the senate Edna Madzongwe, Masvingo Governor Cede Willard Chiwewe, Masvingo senator Dzikamai Mavhaire, and ZNA commander Philip Sibanda.
Zvinavashe is the senator for Gutu and secretary for Indigenisation in the politburo,
Guests were fed vast chunks of meat and chicken.
A cavalcade of top of the range vehicles brought the officials, which, according to one Gutu resident, “were last seen at the funeral ceremony of the late Vice President Simon Muzenda”.
“If you do not feed, then the celebrations will not be interesting. You should feed as today is my celebrating day for retirement. Thank the party, not me, for I represent the party,” said Zvinavashe, who did not appear to be in good health. – Own correspondent
