Support for Zim gospel singers (24-08-07)

LONDON
A new organisation has been set up to promote and support Zimbabwean gospel singers in the diaspora.
The Zimbabwe International Gospel Musicians Association (ZIGMA) was set up by Rexford Ndengeya, the father and manager of gospel singer Pamela Ndengeya. He realised that there were a

considerable number of gospel singers, particularly in Britain who “were operating at less than their full potential through lack of exposure”.
“As individual artists it is very difficult if not impossible to make an impact on the music scene especially from a distance,” said Ndengeya. “As an association we have the potential to make an impact on the music scene to the benefit of the industry, the nation and the artists themselves. We have already established preliminary links with industry players back home and the response seems to be quite encouraging.”
Ndengeya said that they want to assist gospel singers in introducing them to musicians, booking recording studios and engineers as well as helping them get exposure through the media.
“We believe that united we are better placed to overcome the challenges that we face as gospel musicians. We are passionate about gospel music and are determined to raise Zimbabwean Gospel Music to new heights,” said Ndengeya. – Visit: www.zigmaonline.com
