MDC official assaulted


HARARE - The opposition Movement for Democratic Change says its district organising secretary for Muzarabani Constituency, Ging Dhlamini, was last week beaten up and left for dead by an alleged group of Zanu (PF) youths who accused him of organising MDC activities in the area.

i constituency is a Zanu (PF) stronghold in Mashonaland Central province, under legislator Luke Mushore.
According to MDC spokesperson Nelson Chamisa, Dhlamini was returning from the local business centre, Bere, when he was accosted by about eight youths led by one Amen Marimba.
“Before the incident, Dhlamini was allegedly threatened by Zanu (PF) Mount Darwin district chairman Amon Mavhedzenge who warned him to stop organizing MDC meetings.
“Hardly two weeks later, he was beaten up and ferried to Chadereka clinic on donkey-drawn cart,” said Chamisa.
Dhlamini’s current condition is not known. – Own Correspondent
