Farewell to Dube

JOHANNESBURG - The Zimbabwean community in South Africa has paid tribute to slain reggae music icon, Lucky Dube, who was shot dead last Thursday. The South African musician (43), the best selling artist of that music genre in Africa, was shot in what police believe was a hijack attempt in the notorious Rosettenville, south of Johannesburg.

Ndolwane Super Sound vocalist Martin Sibanda, said he had lost a ‘brother and inspiration whose death had left too big a void in world music.’

The late Dube inspired the reggae feel to the group’s dominantly marabi music. – CAJ News
