MDC official left paralysed by thugs

MUTARE - An MDC activist who was badly beaten up by Zanu (PF) youths in Rusape is in stable condition but can neither walk nor sit on his own, stoking fears the injuries could render him paralysed.
Paul Chidza last week told CAJ News that he had a terrible pain in his backbone and both

legs.
“I am stable now. But I cannot walk or sit down,” said Chidza.
Chidza was admitted to the Seventh Avenue Surgical Unit after being stabbed by Zanu (PF)youths in Rusape, the stronghold of State Security Minister Didymus Mutasa, last week.
Chidza, a former MDC youth chairman for Makoni District, was attacked just a few hours after returning to Vhengere, from where he had fled two years ago. He fled after being threatened by Zanu (PF) youths.
When he returned to Rusape, the youths stabbed him in the neck and chest, and hit him over the head with a bottle. He identified their leader as Farai Gambi.
Chidza said the youths were loyal to Mutasa, accused of masterminding a violent campaign against MDC activists in Rusape.
“They (the youths) are well known in the area,” Chidza said. Some of the youths, known as the “A-team” have been responsible for the violence unleashed on opposition supporters. They also attacked war veteran James Kaunye, who had intended to challenge Mutasa in the Zanu (PF) primary elections in Makoni North.
