NCA marches for the 2nd day running

Harare: More than 400 National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) members -including their leader Lovemore Madhuku - demonstrated  again today against the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (Number 18) Act and other peace meal amendments .

The police were  caught unawares  by the NCA members resulting in them acting swiftly to disperse the marchers violently in order clear the way for SA leader Thabo Mbeki’s motorcade which was to pass through.

The NCA members arrived at the Harare Main Post from the Copacabana Bus Terminus where the march took off, as Mbeki was less than 400 metres away along Julius Nyerere Way.

The NCA members were whistling and chanting songs denouncing the constitution – making process of Zimbabwe and the recently endorsed Amendment (Number 18) Act.

Dr Madhuku saluted his members for coming into the streets for the second day running.

” As long as the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (Number 18) Act is there, we will continue to show our displeasure over it,” said Dr Madhuku. “We want this Act repealed and then have a people-driven and democratic constitution.”

No arrests were made
