Home away from home

IN THE absence of an exclusive watering hole and eating place for the vast majority of the three million Zimbabweans that have settled in South Africa, a local Zimbabwean business will tomorrow launch Zim Café in the up-market Rivonia suburb.

This will be the first venue to accommodate Zimbabweans and other interested groups struggling to find a common ground in the Diaspora. Zim Café seeks to provide ‘a home away from home’ with a synergy of food, drink and music.

“We are saying to all Zimbabweans, this is your place with a unique name that you can identify with, so come and enjoy. We are however not exclusive to Zimbabweans only because we know that there are so many other people who enjoy that which is Zimbabwean. We are just offering a different experience to anyone, the tourist, the Zimbabwean, the South Africa, the African,” said a spokesman for the café. organizer.

The biggest feature on the Zim Café calendar will be Zim Nite, to be held every end of the month. Members of the public are invited to apply for exclusive membership by writing to zimcafe@zimgreats.com.
