ZIRA was formed two years ago by a group of young people who feared that books were losing their place to IPods and DVDs. Since last year the organisation has been donating books to underprivileged schools as well as under-resourced libraries in townships around the country.
“We will be carrying out reading fairs, setting up reading clubs in schools, [and] organising reading workshops, in every province in the country to raise awareness that we’re in danger of becoming an educated society of illiterates,” said Chakanetsa. – Tinashe Mushakavanhu
