MAHOHOMA RELEASED

HARARE - The Zimbabwe youth movement ZYM treasurer general; Wellington Mahohoma is now free after about a week of police interrogations. Mahohoma was arrested Friday and released on Saturday and he was to assist police with investigations. Mahohoma was arrested for holding a camera in the presence of Robert Mugabe, the president of the Zimbabwean republic.

He was further charged with trespassing at the University of Zimbabwe and celebrating his brother’s graduation ceremony. The militant human rights and youth activist was expelled from the University of Zimbabwe almost two years ago. After arresting him, they confiscated the Digital camera and recorder and ZYM flash disk and continuously questioned and harassed as to what was his purpose on campus and why he had a camera. On opening the flash disk, they found several issues pertaining to ZYM’s political activities and thus tried to find justification to holding him. It was only after the intervention of his lawyer, Machiridza that charges were dropped on Wednesday and his camera and flash disk were returned.

Asked for comment, Mahohoma said they will torture, arrest and abduct but we will not be deterred in our quest for a liberated Zimbabwe
