The team is already in to camp in preparation for the Metropolitan
Holdings Cosafa tournament from 1-8 December in Nelspruit, Northwest
province, South Africa.
Ndlovu, the former Highlanders coach has a huge task of transforming
the disappointing side.
The coach has named Chimutengwende to bolster the squad. The player is
causing waves in the United Kingdom Division is set to receive his
first cap for the country.
The striker is at Collier High School and turns out for Division One
side Horsham.
The other star players that have been named for the Cosafa tournament
are Masvingo United sharp shooting strikers Ovidy Karuru and Martin
Vengesayi, Caps United’s playmaker and teenage sensation Tafadzwa
Rusike.
Rusike is also set to earn his first cap. The Young Warriors boasts of
eight regular Premiership players – Ronald Mudimu, Rusike (Caps
United) Ronald Sengu (Shooting Stars), Ovidy Karuru, Martin Vengesayi
(Masvingo United), Stephen Alimenda (Mwana Africa) and Darrel Nyandoro
(Eastern Lions).
The players eligible for the squad were born before January 1, 1988.
The Young Warriors are hoping to make an impression, as they have
become cannon fodder in continental football.
The team, which was coached by Sammy Mavhenyengwa last year, failed to
qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing, China next year.
The team was disbanded last year after it revolted against Zifa at OR
Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg over unpaid bonuses and
allowances. The team refused to board the plane back home and spent a
week in South Africa staging a sit-in.
