Media reports that Mugabe spoiled himself and his family with close to a million rand for his three-week leave have sparked condemnation.
The Director for Zimbabwe Exiles Forum Gabriel Shumba said it only proved Mugabe had moved from being a patriot and a president to becoming a major shareholder of the country.
“The reported spending by Mugabe only shows that his interests are now more personal than national as further digging the country’s coffers of its scarce foreign currency is a direct act which will further sink the economy,” said Shumba.
Commenting on the same issue Simon Mudekwa from the Revolutionary Youth Movement said Mugabe was intend on destroying all institutions before he dies and wanted to live a burden for his successors.
Mugabe has in the past been accused of abusing state resources to further his selfish ends. Since receiving travel ban by European governments and the United States Mugabe have resorted to spending his holidays in Asia.
