ZANU PF SECURES 60 PLACES AT RHODES UNIVERSITY

Johannesburg- The ZANU PF government has secured at least 60 places for children related to senior party and government officials at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa for the 2008 academic year.

The move follows the deportations of a number of chidren related to ZANU PF officials studying at various universities in while the United States government is mulling the deportation of other children related to ZANU PF officials from that country. 

 Accoding to sources in the Zimbabwe government, the government was looking for friendly countries such as South Africa to send their children for univesity studies as it felt ashamed by the deportations of last year from Australia. 

 This had seen the move of securing places at Rhodes University which is viewed as one of the best colleges in South Africa.

 Among those that are expected to be enrolled at Rhodes University are; the two children of the RBZ govenor Gideon Gono and the son of Police Commissioner Austine Chihuri.

 Zimbabwe Revolutinary Youth Movement official, John Chikawri, said that the organisation was planning to meet officials at Rhodes University in an attempt to stop the enrollment of the students as the recruitment was a sign of proping up the Zimbabwe government’s mismanagement of the economy. 

 The Zimbabwe Consulate’s spokesperson Chris Mapanga when reached for comment said every Zimbabwean enjoyed a right to study in  a country and at an institution of their choice .
