MDC (Tsvangirai) modifies logo

HARARE - MDC (Tsvangirai) has modified its logo by adding the name of its president as a way of providing a difference between it and the smaller faction led by Arthur Mutambara.

The main wing of the MDC re-branded the logo ahead of the combined elections next month and party spokesman Nelson Chamisa said that was aimed at helping supporters identify their candidates.

There had been reports of confusion among the electorate as both formations of the MDC used the same logo, colours and even slogans since the split of 2005.

The Zimbabwean saw the re-branded logo for the main wing of the MDC and it now has the name “Tsvangirai” inscribed under the open palm and that image encircled by the party’s slogan-Chinja Maitiro, Guqula Izenzo.  The party retains the open palm symbol and the colour red also used by the other wing but Chamisa said the inclusion of the leader’s name would suffice.
