The Media Should be Impartial

The Media Should be Impartial
  by Nelson Chamisa
The MDC calls for unbiased reporting by the media during the election campaign. We further call for equal coverage of all political players and parties.

A vibrant and unbiased media is an essential ingredient for a free and fair election.
The party believes the media should play their part in helping Zimbabweans to make a political choice. The media should help showcase the various political options and programmes without exhibiting open bias towards certain candidates and political parties.
The MDC believes that history is unfolding and the media should take their rightful place to provide a platform and opportunity to make informed choices. The media should be a market place of ideas. Zimbabweans want the full bouquet so that they can exercise their right of choice.
We note that certain media have shown an open inclination towards certain candidates. Zimbabweans, and not newspapers, should be allowed their sovereign right to determine who governs them. Zimbabweans should be allowed to make their political choices.
The MDC believes in the media playing their role as the Fourth Estate in an unbiased manner. The media should tell the true story of Zimbabwe with neither fear nor favour.
As we approach the watershed election on 29 March, we must be aware that this is our only chance for rebirth and renewal. It has been a long journey, but hope is on the horizon. It is indeed our time for the change we can trust.
Through our vote, we will be able to reclaim our dignity. We are the change you can trust.

It might be ridicule, imprisonment, concentration camp, flogging, banishment and even death. I only pray to the Almighty to strengthen my resolve so that none of these grim possibilities may deter me from striving, for the sake of the good name of our beloved country, (Zimbabwe), to make it a true democracy and a true union in form and spirit of all the communities in the land.”
