Zanu (PF) Final List to be Out on Monday

HARARE - ZANU (PF) Political Commissar Elliot Manyika has said the party's final list of candidates in the coming March 29 elections will be out by Monday amid reportts that there some bigwigs who are not ready to accept defeat.


Speaking yesterday Manyika, who is also the MP for Bindura, said after primary elections  in other constituencies failed to take off last weekend, all the sticking areas should be finalised by this weekend.”Everything is being done according to the rules of the party and there are no saccred cows this time around. The are people are going to choose their leaders. Everything should be in place by ebd of day on Sunday. The final list of candidates should out on Monday,” said Manyika.

 Violence, allegations of vote buying and disqualification of potential candidates heralded the start of Zanu PF primary elections for the forthcoming harmonised elections set for March 29.

 A number of Zanu PF bigwigs have failed to make it back to Parliament afer loosing the party’s primary elections that took place over the last weekend. The bigest upset is that of Rugare Gumbo who lost to former ZBC correspondent Makhosini Hlongwani in the Mberengwa West constituency. 

In Mashonaland East province, rampant cases of vote buying were reported with business tycoon and former chairman of the Zanu PF provincial council, Paddy Zhanda being accused of dishing out maize to residents of Goromonzi Constituency, where he has now elbowed former finance minister, Herbert Murerwa.Murerwa is now eyeing the senatorial seat, which was occupied by Siriro Majuru.The government has already extended the Nomination Day by one week to Friday 15, allowing for the ruling party to finish its candidate selection, according to the MDC.MDC Spokesperson Nelson Chamisa  has said the extension was only done in order to allow for the ruling party to re-organise its structures in the light of Simba Makoni’s announcement that he was ready to stand for the presidency.”Its veyr clear that the extension favours the ruling party. Yes, we have always said there was need for extensinons in the time the elctions are going to be held. A lot of issues need to be addressed if the forthcoming elections are going to be free and fair,” said Chamisa
