ANC Should Condemn Zanu Violence

JOHANNESBURG
Zimbabwe solidarity movements in South Africa on Thursday called on South Africa's ruling African National Congress (ANC) to issue a statement to Zanu (PF) against state organised violence against progressive forces and the opposition ahead of the March 29 elections.

Speaking at a workshop titled: Building Momentum for Freedom and Democracy in Zimbabwe organised by Zimbabwe Solidity Forum, Deprose Muchena, Economic Justice Program Manager for Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) said the ANC was the only one Zanu (PF) would listen to.

The ANC as a revolutionary party has to call upon another revolutionary party in Zimbabwe to continue to apply its ethos that united them as revolutionary movements, Muchena said.

ZSF forum Advisor Richard Smith said: As solidarity movements here in South Africa we call on the ANC and the South African government to denounce state organised violence against progressive forces and the opposition in Zimbabwe before the March 29 elections.
