Botswana Launches Go And Remove Mugabe.

BULAWAYO

The Botswana Government is encouraging' illegal immigrants to go back home to vote, as Operation Go and Remove Mugabe swings into force.

Under the operation, thousands of Zimbabweans are being deported every day, while cross-border traders with legal travel documents are being allowed to stay for a few days before being sent packing.

Botswana is known to be against the rule of Robert Mugabe and has deployed hundreds soldiers and police along its border with Zimbabwe.

On a visit to Botswana on Monday, The Zimbabwean witnessed six road blocks mounted by the country’s army, police and immigration officers for 100 kilometres from Ramakngwebane border post near Plumtree to Francistown. The message for migrants was not to stay in Botswana, but to go home, vote out Mugabe and so do away with the need to look for jobs and food across the border.

Some immigration officials operating at Ramakngwebane border post told The Zimbabwean that, on March 28, just a day before elections, there was a possibility that all Botswana’s border posts could be closed to bar people from leaving Zimbabwe when they should be voting there.

Meanwhile, the Botswana Police have advised its Government to ban Zimbabweans   from buying fuel because cases of theft and smuggling were in the increase.

Botswana Police spokesperson Superintendent Christopher Mubalawa was quoted in the Botswana Daily News on Tuesday, warning that, without a ban, Botswana could face a fuel shortage.

Last week, six Zimbabweans were arrested after they were caught with 32 drums of diesel and petrol  stolen from Engen Filling Station in Francistown.
