Make the right choice

Robert Mugabe and Zanu (PF) know that they have already been defeated in this weekend’s elections. They know that they have been rejected by the people – because of their abuses of power, their corruption and their mis-governance.
They have milked our economy, squandered our resources and picked childish fights with the international community.
The people have had enough. We are now ready for change. No amount of intimidation, violence or chicanery will sway them from this purpose. It is time for change. And change we will have.
Voting for Zanu (PF) is voting for hunger, for joblessness, for corruption. It will only mean a continuation of our suffering. Zanu (PF) has no idea how to get us out of the mess it has created through its greed, patronage and tyranny.
That is why Mugabe is resorting to violence, threats and name-calling instead of telling us how he plans to resolve our problems if we allow him to continue to rule over us.
He has even had the audacity to campaign for his re-election among the victims of the dastardly Operation Murambatsvina – which saw him heartlessly throwing hundreds of thousands of families into the streets as punishment for voting for the opposition in 2005.
He is now promising them stands where they can re-build the houses he destroyed. But there is no talk of compensation. How can he possibly, even in his wildest dreams, expect these people to vote for him?!
Nobody believes he will honour his word if he is re-elected. Look what happened to Operation Garikayi – which was supposed to re-house the Murambatsvina victims.
By all accounts Garikayi has been an unmitigated disaster, fraught with corruption and incompetence. Why on earth would people vote for the architect of such a scheme?
Zanu (PF) knows this full well. They know they cannot win – if they are to remain in power they will have to cheat big time. And that is what they are busy doing, under the very noses of the hand-picked “friendly” observers.
Let us show the world that we are capable of liberating ourselves from tyranny. We have done it before. Let us do it again. We owe it to ourselves. We owe it to our children. We owe it to our country.
We should all go and vote for Morgan Tsvangirai for a fresh start. He has a workable plan for the future of our country. He has not been tainted by corruption. He does not have the cruel streak that we have come to associate with Zanu (PF) leadership.
Make the right choice. The future is in your hands.

WORD
When the LORD brought back their captives to Zion we were like men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”
Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the desert. Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him. Psalm 26
