Ceasar Sitiya, Tatenda Chiuya, Manifest Jabuli, Shingairai Chikomba and Thabani Moyo were arrested in July last year after protesting against top-up fees.
If the State now wishes to proceed with the case, it will have to issues a summons to each of the students.
One student, Shadreck Vengesai, was arrested separately and remanded until March 19. Shaun Matsheza, the acting President of the University of Zimbabwe Students’ Executive Council (SEC) was issued with a warrant of arrest after failing to appear in court.
All seven students are charged with malicious destruction of property.
