Violence Erupts In Bikita
Four youths were viciously attacked by a ZANU-PF mob on the night of Wednesday the 26th of March at Nyika Growth Point in Bikita rural district, 85km from Masvingo, Zimbabwe's oldest city.

Among those attached were Petros Mutema, Musimiki, and Chisi. This attack follows a crusade of Youth Go Vote campaign which has been carried out earlier during the week by the Youth Forum which saw a convoy of more than ten vehicles going around the 7 constituencies in rural Zaka and Bikita distributing educative information on elections to the rural electorate.  Part of the fleet making up the convoy has been supplied by Petros Mutema a young prosperous businessman at Nyika Growth Point, another reason that could have attracted the wrath of ZANU-PF assailants.

The Youth Forum is seriously disturbed that ZANU-PF has once again discovered its streak of violence that saw several maimed and others being killed in the same district in 2001 during a by-election. It is sad to note that no arrests have been made although the assailants are known. One of the suspected master minders of the insidious attack is Brigadier Rungani, husband to Senator Rungani for Zaka-Bikita senatorial constituency. Brigadier Rungani is feared in Bikita West because of his antics of opening bottle tops with the tip of a CZ-pistol in public places including pubs.

Meanwhile, the Youth Forum is pleased with the results of the Youth Go Vote campaign carried out in the rural areas which has seen a huge attendance by young people at opposition rallies including the one addressed by the MDC President Mr. Morgan Tsvangirai at Majembere Stadium at Bikita Rural District offices.
