The call comes three days before Zimbabweans celebrate their 28 years of independence which has been marred by autocratic rule of Zanu Pf and a free falling over the last decade.

We urge SADC and it Members states to provide all necessary support to Zimbabwe to enable it to peacefully transform the electoral and political crisis in that country into an opportunity for the development of a sustainable democracy, said Alice Mogwe an official from BOCISCOZ in Gaborone.

The civil society applauds efforts made by SADC head of States to promote good governance and democracy in the region. BOCISCOZ however feels the region should have done more apart from trying to resolve post election impasse.

We are concerned on the failure by the SADC Summit to make pronouncements on the reported farm invasion by war veterans, Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) operatives and the National Youth Services.

Botswana is one of the SADC countries that has since dropped quite diplomacy policy on Zimbabwe crisis under the new president Seretse Khama Ian Khama.
