Home Affairs director-general hails cops for arresting corrupt officials

PRETORIA, (CAJ News)---HOME Affairs Director General, Mavuso Msimang has hailed
the arrest of a corrupt official in the department's Pretoria office.

Donnah Boloka, a clerk at the Department’s ID production unit, New Corporation Building in Pretoria, was arrested for attempting to steal 10 Identity Documents at the weekend.

She was arrested during a routine security body search on her way home for hiding the IDs under her armpits.

“Counter-Corruption unit is vigilant in its efforts to out-root corruption within the rank and file of Home Affairs. Since its establishment in 2004 the department has successfully dismissed over 200 officials for indulging in fraudulent activities (ID theft or issuing of illegal documents etc),”

Msimang said.

He said such culprits would be brought to book, as the department wants to rid itself of corrupt officials.

Boloka was charged with theft and is in custody while investigations are underway to establish her associates some of whom are feared to be in the department.

She will appear at the Pretoria Regional Magistrate court yesterday (Tuesday)—CAJ News.
