Zim’s notorious armed-robber gunned down in SA

  JOHANNESBURG, -ZIMBABWE'S notorious armed-robber, only identified as Simba was gunned down at Jourbert Park last week on Thursday when his luck ran out after robbing some plain clothed police officers, officials told CAJ News on Monday.

However, Simba’s accomplice, Roy Machoko, who escaped from Zimbabwe’s maximum Prison in 2004, is believed to be in hiding in Mpumalanga, and police have promised that the net will be soon closing in on him.The deceased Simba is known for terrorising places such as Hillbrow, Berea, Yeoville, Braamfontein and the Johannesburg Central Business (CBD) with his shoot to kill attitude.

But his luck came to an end on Thursday when attempted to rob some plain clothes police officers from Hillbrow whilst thinking were ordinary members of the public.

“He robbed three plain clothed police officers at Jourbert Park. When they pleaded with him (deceased) to return their belongings, he produced a revolver threatening to kill them. That was when an exchange of gunfire started with the police officers pumping three bullets into his head and chest,” said an eyewitness.

The eyewitness said the deceased’s accomplice escaped the wrath of law to Mpumalanga where he is on hiding. Police confirmed that the two robbers were dangerous, and urged members of the public to tip police of any information leading to their arrest.

“We are appealing to members of the public to report any whereabouts of Roy Machokoto to the nearest police station. He is a very dangerous criminal.

“Anyone with information leading to his (Machokoto) arrest should report to any nearest police station throughout South Africa,” said one police officer, who accompanied the source to CAJ News offices on Monday.  

Several Zimbabwean hapless women, who are coming to fend off for their children in South Africa, especially at Park Station have fallen victims to the two criminals.

Economically crippled Zimbabweans lost cash, property worth several hundreds of thousands of rands to the two criminals.

In Zimbabwe, the two thugs escaped from Kentucky Prison, and they are still on the wanted list for three murder counts, five armed robbery, 22 robbery, five hijacking, escaping from the lawful custody and series of theft charges against them—–CAJ News
