Your vote is a powerful weapon - use it

The wave of violence sweeping the country is unmistakably being perpetrated by Zanu (PF) - through unemployed thugs, disadvantaged youths, so-called war vets (who were still in diapers in 1980) in police and army uniform and party militias who very lives dependent upon remaining loyal to their master.

This state of affairs is designed by those with degrees in violence to make it impossible for anybody to do anything other than support Robert Mugabe in the proposed presidential election run-off – after he lost last month to MDC president Morgan Tsvangirai.

The people of Zimbabwe simply want peace.  We urge them, if indeed the run-off does transpire, to vote for peace. Why vote for those who have issued the orders for them to be beaten, burned, raped and tortured? We exhort you, brave Zimbabweans, do not vote out of fear. Vote for people whom you know will not force you to do the things you know are wrong.

Zanu (PF) is a party of violence. That party and its leader, Robert Mugabe, should be rejected at the polls. No matter how much violence there is, the people of Zimbabwe have one thing Mugabe and all his violent thugs can never take away from us. We have one thing of which they are very afraid – our vote.

So we say to all Zimbabweans – go and cast your ballot for the second time, if that is what Mugabe succeeds in forcing us to do.

This is your chance to hit back at those who are forcing you to attend all-night pungwes, to chant their slogans and sing their songs, those who are burning down your houses and raping your daughters.

They are powerless against your vote. Even their guns can be defeated by your vote.

Your vote is a powerful weapon – use it.

Zanu has no coherent strategy to get Zimbabwe out of the mess into which its policies and corruption has plunged us. They are bankrupt of ideas. They blame everybody else for their corruption and greed – except themselves.

The presidential run-off – if it takes place – will be a make or break election for us all. If you put your X against the name of Morgan Tsvangirai, you will be voting for peace, for a return to the rule of law, for prosperity, for positive engagement by the international community, for jobs – but above all you will be voting for the ability to sleep peacefully at night – for a life without fear.

Word:

The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming. The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken. Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous. The days of the blameless are known to the LORD, and their inheritance will endure forever. – Psalm 37
