Sahwira creates duel between good and evil

Two spirits; good and evil; dogfight. Vhitori Entertainment and their insightful and incisive team of director Elton Mjanana and producer Silvanos Mudzvova are back at Theatre in the Park with a duel.

In a heart-rending production, Sahwira – The Spirit of Friendship, the audience is taken on a spiritual, physical and emotional journey through the trials and tribulations of the last decade. But the play also pays homage to a special person who has made a difference in dealing with issues of the human spirit.

Written and directed by Mjanana, who last worked with Mudzvova on the acerbic and head-turning Final Push, the play – set between 1998 and the present day – serves as a reminder that a good man only needs to do nothing for evil to triumph.

Tafadzwa Muzondo, Blessing Hungwe, Judith Tsoka and Privillage Mutendera star.

Tafadzwa has been on the theatre scene since the 1990s. He is also the founder and director of the Edzai Isu Theatre Company and will be remembered for the award-winning All Systems Out of Order, which he wrote, produced and acted in.

Blessing Hungwe might be new to mainstream theatre, but is already a NAMA award-winning actor for his role in Madam Speaker Sir 2, while Privillage Mutendera is famous for her two-hander productions under her co-owned production house Sister Sister Productions. Judith Tsoka is also a NAMA nominee for best actress for her role in Madam Speaker Sir 2.

The play shows at Theatre in the Park until June 7, at 1pm and 5.30pm every day except Mondays and Sundays.
