Appeal for Peace
Everyday on SW Radio Africa we bring you an appeal from a respected and well-known individual aimed at those who are guilty of perpetrating the horrific acts of violence, intimidation and torture against the innocent people of Zimbabwe, primarily members of Zimbabwe’s Defence Forces. This serves to remind the guilty of their mandate to protect and serve the people, a duty that so many of them seem to have forgotten. We desperately need peace in our country in order for democracy to take seed and grow.

This is the programme that gives a beginners guide to democracy and the democratic process and this week on the fourth programme in the series Mandisa is joined by Professor Stan Mukasa and Dr John Makumbe. The focus is the subversion of the democratic process in Zimbabwe and how the government is now responsible for the general public’s negative perceptions of what true democracy is. Hidden Story promo
In the Hidden Story this week, Tichaona speaks to London based solicitor, Chengetai Mupara who tells how his mother and brother were on the receiving end of a vicious attack instigated by a close family relative. The relative is said to have lost her council seat during the March 29th harmonised elections where she stood on a Zanu-PF ticket.
Grace Mvududu was seeking re-election as a Zanu PF candidate as the Councillor in Gombakomba near Mutare. The woman, who is a first cousin to Chengetai Mupara and his family, was angered when she lost to an MDC candidate, and allegedly instigated the attack on Mupara’s mother and brother by sending out a militia group to teach them a lesson’ because she believed their support for the MDC contributed to her downfall.
