Anti-xenophobic campaign

JOHANNESBURG - A campaign to fight anti-foreigner sentiments in South Africa has taken off following the formation of Anti-xenophobia Coalition.

The coalition, which consists of South African National Defence Force, business organisations, churches and civil society, has been prompted by recent attacks on foreigners, which left 62 people dead.

“We cannot go on like this. Xenophobia does not have a place in this country. This country belongs to all who live in it irrespective of race, colour and creed. We are all Africans and should learn to live together side by side as we have been doing over the years,” Gauteng Local Government MEC, Qedani Dorothy Mahlangu said.

South African National Defence Force’s Colonel Sipho Majola echoed Mahlangu’s sentiments. “This is totally unacceptable and it has to stop now. Let us love one another regardless of ones’ place of origin.” – CAJ News
