Evicted because of a poster

BULAWAYO - Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) national executive member  and freelance  journalist,  Pamenous Tuso, was severely beaten up and evicted from his house in Nkulumane on June 21 by Zanu (PF) youth militias.

They had found campaign posters for MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai on the wall surrounding his house.

“I was approached by six Zanu (PF) thugs and asked why my durawall had Tsavangirai  posters all over it. I replied that it was my right to support any party of my choice,” Tuso said. This angered the thugs and they started beating him up with logs in full view of his neighbours. They then told him to leave Nkulumane immediately. The matter was reported at Nkulumane Police Station but no arrest had been made by the time of going to press. Tuso was treated for minor injuries at Gallan House clinic in the city centre.

Since the visit of head of the military junta, Robert Mugabe, last week there has been an increase in the number of violence cases. Several MDC supporters were beaten in Northend, Queenspark and Saucetwon by Zanu (PF) youth militias operating from a torture base along Jason Moyo and 6th Avenue at a building owned by Zanu (PF) activist Tayali.
