It is located along Jason Moyo Street and Sixth Avenue and several MDC members have been kidnapped and taken there to be tortured. Malinga is understood to be supplying the youth militias with opaque beer (masese) and drugs on a daily basis. On June 21 the drunken Zanu (PF) youth militia went around the city centre beating up shoppers and occupants of low density suburbs surrounding the city.
“Several MDC members have been abducted in the past week and taken to the Zanu (PF) base in the city centre where they were tortured to make a confession,” MDC Spokesperson for Bulawayo, Felix Mafa, said.
Zanu (PF) activist, Tayali, forcibly grabbed the building from an Indian businessman, R. Chitrin last year. Tayali operates an internet café and phone shop known as Yebo Mlobo from the same building.
“There is no torture base, just temporary Zanu (PF) offices,” Malinga said.
