Bakacheza was kidnapped by state security agents with Tendai Chidziwo, an MDC activist on June 25 in Msasa. They had been moving furniture and personal belongings of murdered MDC activist, Tonderai Ndirai. Three unmarked double cab trucks ambushed them and 16 men armed with AK assault rifles disembarked. They hijacked the truck and drove the men to an army-owned farm in Beatrice where they were tortured and shot.
Bakacheza died instantly and Chidziwo is recovering from a wound in his head after Good Samaritans assisted him. Bakacheza’s family and MDC officials had been making frantic efforts to locate Bakacheza’s whereabouts since his disappearance.
109 MDC activists have been murdered by Zanu (PF) supporters but not a single person has been arrested. Morgan Tsvangirai has called on the police not be partisan and start doing something against political violence being perpetrated against MDC supporters.
