In a sinister movie-style operation that shocked the nation, eight armed State security agents abducted Ndira, 32, in the early hours of 13 May 2008 at his Harare home in Mabvuku in front of his wife and two children.
His decomposed body was found a week later in Goromonzi with his private parts missing.
Police were notified of the abduction and the subsequent murder of Ndira, popularly known as “Sarge”, but no investigations or arrests have been made so far.
Ndira was later buried at the Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare. President Morgan Tsvangirai attended the burial. In a graveside speech, the President said in a new Zimbabwe, never again should the government be allowed to kill its own citizens.
According to Ndira’s brother, Enias, the memorial service will start Saturday 23 August at 6.00 pm at Machiridza village.
Ndira is one of the more than 125 MDC activists who have been brutally murdered in State-sanctioned violence, which intensified soon after the MDC’s historic victory o 29 March 2008.
