SINGAPORE - The civilian leader of Zimbabwe's military junta, Robert Mugabe
was said to be in Singapore and scheduled to consult doctors here, according
to a government source.

Mugabe’s medical appointment was with a doctor in Singapore’s Orchard Road

area, the source said. Mugabe has not been well for some time. his ankles

are said to have swollen. he has problems reading newspapers, according to

his minister of information, Sikhanyiso Ndlovu.

The government source said Mugabe’s visit was strictly private.

He could not say how long Mugabe would be in Singapore for.
