Great talent at YAAF 2008

HARARE - On Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September over 5,000 young people came to celebrate their talents, expand their art skills, showcase their talents in competitions and enjoy performances by a big line-up of famous and upcoming artists at the Young Africa Arts Festival (YAAF).

There were excellent musical performances by Q Montana, Labash, Edene, Macintosh, Kombai, Afro-Mix and many more. 22 groups of young upcoming artists competed for attractive prize money in music, poetry, dance and drama. To further groom these young talents, the competitors and the audience could register for a workshop in acting skills, offered by Yeukai Ndarimani (ZIFF Film Club).

Entrance to the multi-faceted festival was kept at a very reasonable fee, so that nobody was restrained from participating on financial grounds, while at the same time showing that a low fee and high quality can go hand in hand perfectly well. This is part of Young Africa’s overall vision of a holistic development of young people.
