JEYS SET TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM

Astute musicians are always the harbingers of the festive season.

To live up to that universal dictum, award winning musician, Bulawayo based Jeys Marabini, backed by Kozozekulunge Band, is releasing a music album at the end of October titled IZENZO. This album is set to light up the hearts of many music lovers during the festive season despite the fact that the country is going through turbulent political and economic times.

Recorded in South Africa by Khula Records, and to be distributed by Gallo Music, also of South Africa, the album is an exploration of new heights in personal artistic level. To add to the treat, it features Nani Coyotte of South Africa’s Jazz guru’s, Isitimela in three songs.  Nani Coyotte and his gritty voice is famous in the country for perfoming the lead vocals in the famous Isitimela song of yore, Phinda Mzala.  Also featured is Ndatshi Mkhize, a city of Bulawayo marabi  music veteran, who performs in the title song.

Jeys Marabini started his music career in the accapella genre, and has toured extensively internationally during the nineties with two renowned accapella groups, Imbizo and Sunduza, both also based in the city of Bulawayo.

The songs in the album range from socio-economic, love, to religious comments.  The title song, IZENZO, bewails all issues of the world that are a negative force against the progression of ubuntu (the soul). 2010, featuring Nani Coyotte, is a celebration of soccer 2010 and the light the tournament will shine on the African continent, just as the Olympic games recently did to China. Another song, Julia, talks about a city boy enamored by a country girl and her traditional values against the decadence of urban life.
