In a brief statement, ZC media and communications manager, Lovemore Banda confirmed the incident but said the organisation was following laid down procedures in dealing with the matter.
“The incident did occur and it is being investigated and attended to in accordance with our procedures,” said Banda.
This explains why Taibu will take part in the Zimbabwe team’s four-nations Twenty20 tournament in Canada and the triangular one-day series in Kenya.
The ZC investigation looks set to take long and removing Taibu from the squad at this stage would mean the authorities are pre-judging. – VOP
