U. S., Canada to host College Fair in Harare

Seventeen colleges and universities from the United States and Canada will participate at this year's Universities and Colleges Fair. The fair, co-organized by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the U. S. Embassy's EducationUSA Advising Center, will be held on Wednesday, November 5 from 1500 to 1800 in the St

The event is open to A level high school students through invitations distributed to local area high schools, or available at the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy.

Admissions officers representing fourteen colleges and universities from the United States – Brown University, Colgate University, The College of St. Scholastica, Columbia University, Eugene Lang College – The New School, Foothill and DeAnza Colleges, Manhattanville College, Michigan State University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Princeton University, Stanford University, Truman State University, and Yale University, and four universities in Canada – Carleton University, Thompson Rivers University, University of Saskatchewan, and York University.

At the fair, Zimbabwean students will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with international admissions officers from a wide variety of institutions in the United States and Canada and to discuss entry requirements and other academic prospects.  Presentations on the admissions process to Canada and the United States, U.S. student visas, and financial aid will run concurrently at the Fair

The United States has one of the best and most comprehensive systems of higher education in the world; and boasts of over 4,200 accredited and internationally recognized institutions of higher education, all of whom welcome the diversity brought by international students to their campuses.  Over 2,500 Zimbabwean students are currently enrolled at various U.S. accredited colleges and universities.

The U. S. Embassy’s Public Affairs Section in Eastgate houses an EducationUSA certified educational advising center that provides the only source in Zimbabwe of comprehensive, accurate, current, and unbiased information about higher education opportunities in the United States.  Prospective students located outside of Harare can visit the advising center at the Bulawayo Public Library or satellite advising centers at Gweru Memorial Library, Turner Memorial Library, and Africa University Library in Mutare and Mucheke Public Library in Masvingo.
