Zviripi was a member of the Global Zimbabwe Forum, executive member of the newly established MDC Veterans Association (MDCVAA) as well as the founding secretary-general of the Action Support Group, an organisation that mobilised political activism, fought against human rights abuses and for justice and welfare for millions of Zimbabwean refugees and asylum seekers living in South Africa.
Zviripi, who was forced to leave Zimbabwe by the Zanu (PF) regime in 2004, had his right leg broken by suspected war veterans and the notorious CIO whilst mobilising the people to vote in full force for MDC ahead of the 2005 parliamentary elections.
“We lost a true comrade, a man who dedicated most of his time trying to unite Zimbabweans abroad so that they become a formidable force to reckon with. Unfortunately he died before his dream had been accomplished,” MDC Secretary for Youths, Kumbulani Sibanda said.
“Zviripi’s death is great loss to democracy, the Co-coordinator of the Zimbabwe Political Victims Association (ZIPOVA), Oliver Kubikwa said.Post published in: News
