NCA ALERT ON 11 NOVEMBER DEMOSTRATIONS ARRESTS

Over twenty (20) National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) members have been arrested across the country for demonstrating over the worsening humanitarian crisis, pressing for a transitional authority and a new people driven constitution.

The NCA chairperson Lovemore Madhuku was arrested today in the early hours and he is still in detention and the Student Representative Council President of Harare Polytechnic Kudakwashe Chakabva has been severely injured after being bundled in a truck by the police. Twelve (12) people have been arrested in Mutare whilst six (6) people have been arrested in Bulawayo. Figures of those arrested in Harare are yet to be confirmed, in Masvingo and Gweru there were no arrest recorded.

The NCA will continue to press for a transitional authority which should address the current challenges the people of Zimbabwe are facing. Chiefly the transitional authority envisaged by the NCA should provide the people of Zimbabwe with an opportunity to write their own laws. The demonstrations are continuing across the country in the coming weeks.
