Talks on the verge of collapse

Johannesburg- Talks to break the logjam to Zimbabwe's power-sharing deal are
this evening on the verge of collapse, an MDC source here told the
Zimbabwean.

Earlier today the MDC announced it would not recognise the power-sharing

deal signed by three Zimbabwean political party leaders in September this

year. The agreement was fraudulently altered behind Tsvangirai’s back by

Mugabe’s party.

The party listed six demands which they say must be met before they will

agree to form a government of national unity.

Zanu (pf)’s negotiators are under strick intructions not to conceed any

thing to the MDC.

"These talks are going nowhere," said the source.

The atmosphere at the talks is said to have been poisoned after the

mediator, former South African President Thabo Mbeki wrote an ill-tempered

letter to Tsvangirai which has angered many MDC members.
