Mugabe regime the problem: Hamutenya

mugabe_asleep_at_sadc_summit.jpgTHE current economic and health crisis in Zimbabwe is manmade and very disturbing, Hidipo Hamutenya, president of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) party, said yesterday.

Briefing the media on the first congress of the one-year old party,
which ended in the early hours of Monday morning, Hamutenya said his
party is very worried about Zimbabwe. The people of Zimbabwe are dying
of cholera and that throws a bad light on the government of that
country, which was once economically flourishing, but now has no
facilities left, he said. The Zimbabwe crisis is manmade and that
regime should not be allowed to continue. It has led to poverty and
hardship, Hamutenya added. Namibia sent a consignment of medicine
worth N$1,7 million to Zimbabwe on Sunday, after Zimbabwe made an
international appeal for help last week to curb a cholera outbreak that
has affected over 12 000 people. Namibia's Health Minister Dr Richard
Kamwi accompanied the consignment. Health ministers of the Southern
African Development Community (SADC) are to meet in South Africa on
Thursday to discuss the cholera crisis in Zimbabwe.
